Portsmouth Port

Directions & Facilities

Portsmouth ferry terminal is conveniently located just off the M27 and is well connected to the rest of the motorway network.

By car

From London, take the M3 or A3. From the Midlands take the M3 to the A34, and from the South West take the A31. From Bristol and south Wales take the A36. These roads lead to the M275, from which an exit road leads directly to the port.

By train

There are train services between Portsmouth and London Waterloo, taking 85 minutes. There are also services between London Victoria and Portsmouth passing through Chichester, Brighton and Gatwick. From Cardiff the train passes through Salisbury and Bristol. Portsmouth stations include Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth The Hard Interchange, both of which are close to the Port. A shuttle bus runs from each station between the months of May - September, outside of these months a taxi should be taken from outside either train station at a cost of around £5

By coach

Regular coach services go from Portsmouth to London Victoria and Heathrow Airport. From London on-bound connections can be made to the rest of the UK.

By foot

It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the ferry terminal from the town centre and 30 minutes from Portsmouth & Southsea train station.

Parking at Portsmouth Terminal

The car park is inside the port. Use the left hand lane at the entrance to the car check-in area, and then follow the signs. Disabled parking is available on the ground floor. Luggage trolleys are available for a £1.00 deposit. 516 spaces. The maximum height for vehicles in the car park is 2.2m high. Payment for the car park is made upon exit.

Caravans can be parked in the check-in lanes after the last departure of the day. Please note that no facilities are open overnight.

Cherbourg Port

Cherbourg is one of the best-connected ferry ports in France. Brittany Ferries sail to Cherbourg from Poole and Portsmouth and offer the fastest available crossing to this port via their high speed ferry service from Poole.

Getting to Cherbourg Terminal

By car

Take the N13 to Caen and the D901 to Cherbourg. Once in Cherbourg, it is easy to find the port, which is clearly signposted.

By taxi

Taxis can normally be found outside the terminal. If there are no taxis available, passengers are advised to contact the Brittany Ferries information desk in the terminal.

By bus

The nearest bus stop is on “Boulevard Maritime” near the cinema.

By train

On foot

It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to walk to the town centre and 40 minutes to the train station from the terminal.

Cherbourg Terminal Facilities

Baby changing room

There is a baby care/ changing room on the first floor, accessible by lift.

Bar

The bar is open all day, from early morning until late evening.

Bureau de change

There is a Bureau de Change facility (not operated by Brittany Ferries), which is open for ferry arrivals and departures.

Disabled facilities

There are ramps for disabled access and disabled parking spaces in the car park. Disabled toilet facilities can be found in the terminal. Wheelchairs are available from the Brittany Ferries information desk.

Showers

Showers can be found in the terminal. They are open for use during ship arrivals and departures. There is no charge for usage.

Souvenir and Paper Shop

This shop is open for arrivals and departures.

Telephones

Phonecard payphones can be found in the terminal. Phonecards can be purchased from the freight office counter or the Bureau de Change. There is also a credit card payphone.

Terminal opening hours

The terminal is manned for ship arrivals and departures.

Parking at Cherbourg Terminal

There is a car park situated in front of the terminal. Parking here is free but for short stays only. There is also an area near the terminal where cars and caravans may park for the night. Also near the terminal, there is secure parking for longer stays.
